Jeff Bezos and Mackenzie Bezos – Settlement: $36 Billion
Despite their headline-making divorce, MacKenzie Bezos has rewritten the narrative. Since 2019, she’s donated over $19 billion to more than 2,000 charities through her work with Yield Giving, while also securing her spot among the world’s wealthiest individuals.
After meeting Jeff Bezos, the Amazon founder, at D.E. Shaw in 1992, they decided to get hitched in 1993, a step before Amazon was even born. When they split in 2019 after 25 years together, MacKenzie walked away with about $36 billion thanks to Washington’s community property laws. She later signed the Giving Pledge and vowed to give away the majority of her wealth.
