Would You Drive These Disasters? The 45 Worst Cars of All Time
AMC Pacer Was a Rolling Fishbowl
The AMC “Pacer,” launched in 1975, was supposed to be the car of the future—but instead, it looked like something out of a cartoon. It was short but oddly wide, making it look like someone squished a regular car in Photoshop.
The massive windows gave drivers 360-degree views of their regret, and the heat inside the cabin could bake cookies in the summer. Initially designed for a rotary engine, AMC had to scrap that idea at the last minute and stuff in an old-school inline-six, making the front heavy and clumsy. By 1980, AMC gave up and pulled the plug.
