Would You Drive These Disasters? The 45 Worst Cars of All Time

When Cadillac Tried Too Hard

Luxury cars should feel special, but the 1982 Cadillac “Cimarron” felt more like a rental car with a fancy badge. Cadillac, desperate to compete with European compact luxury cars, took a Chevy Cavalier, slapped on some leather seats, and called it a day. The result? A car that looked like a Cadillac, only if you squinted really hard.

Under the hood, it had a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine, the first four-cylinder Cadillac since before World War I. Buyers weren’t fooled—paying $12K for what was a fancier Cavalier made no sense. Sales were terrible, and by 1988, Cadillac put the “Cimarron” out of its misery.
