Would You Drive These Disasters? The 45 Worst Cars of All Time

Saturn ION Proved Bad Design Is Dangerous

The 2003 Saturn “ION” was supposed to be innovative, but instead, it became one of GM’s biggest misfires. The center-mounted instrument panel was a design choice that made absolutely no sense, forcing drivers to look sideways just to check their speed. The 2.2L Ecotec engine wasn’t thrilling, and vague steering made every highway trip feel like a trust exercise.

The ignition switch was so faulty that millions of cars were recalled—sometimes, the engine would just shut off while driving. Add in steering failures, cheap interior materials, and a transmission that didn’t want to cooperate, and you had a car that felt unfinished from day one.
