Would You Drive These Disasters? The 45 Worst Cars of All Time
The Octoauto Proved Size Isn’t Everything
What’s better than four wheels? According to Milton Reeves, in 1911, the answer was eight. That’s how the Overland “Octoauto” was born—a ridiculous 20-foot-long car with extra wheels nobody asked for. Milton believed more wheels meant a smoother ride, but what he really got was a turning radius that rivaled an ocean liner.
At $3,200, it cost more than three Model Ts, and not a single person wanted to buy one. It was impossible to park, looked like a train missing its tracks, and did absolutely nothing to improve comfort. Milton tried to fix it with a six-wheeled version, the Sextoauto, but it also failed.
