Would You Drive These Disasters? The 45 Worst Cars of All Time

Crosley Hotshot Burned Out Fast

The 1949 Crosley “Hotshot” was America’s first attempt at a budget-friendly sports car, but it ended up more of a science experiment gone wrong. It weighed just 1,100 pounds, had no doors, and relied on a tiny 26-horsepower, 724cc COBRA engine—which sounded cool but was actually a time bomb under the hood.

The COBRA engine was made from brazed-together steel stampings, meaning it overheated easily and often warped beyond repair. The “Hotshot” did have four-wheel disc brakes, a first for an American car, but they rusted like an old tin can. Driving one was less of a thrill ride and more of a gamble.
