Gena Rowlands – Born in 1930

Gena Rowlands is best known for the films she co-wrote and directed with her husband, John Cassavetes. Among their most notable collaborations are “Gloria” and “A Woman Under the Influence,” both released in 1974. Despite her father’s career as a politician and banker, she followed in her mother’s footsteps and pursued acting.

Younger audiences may recognize her as the elderly protagonist in the popular 2004 film “The Notebook.” She was awarded an Academy Award for her contributions to the film industry in 2015. Her contributions have earned her numerous honors, including Golden Globes, Emmys, and SAG. She has also received the AFI Life Achievement Award.
